dreams unwind, love's a state of mind

local girl comes home, gypsy back to her velvet underground
last night in santa clara county, california.

wow.

quarter of five yesterday, isaac came through. back in may i walked in the door from work one night around twelve and surprise! there was isaac, on the living room couch, saying hey how are ya. happy birthday. he said mark had really made it happen for him to come home, but that he and mark were also working on something else for my birthday as well.

yesterday that really did come through. i had *the best* seats in the house. fleetwood mac played rumours, every song. it'll soon be here, better than before, yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone. stephanie nicks is still that girl with the beautiful long hair, long skirts, dancing like a hippie ballerina.

lindsay buckingham's solid two and a half hours of unrelenting face-melting guitar, john mcvie's bass resonating completely, fully, through every cell of a packed house, and the brilliant, crazy beatific madness of mick fleetwood; it was all perfect. they brought their best to the town where it all began for them. the whole thing was so perfect it was mind-blowing. you need that every once in a while.

the album rumours came out when i was a junior in high school, and all of those songs were hits, on the radio and in all of our hearts. every time we sat together, my best friends and i, the guitars came out of the cases to play and sing the repertoire. we sang the beatles, dylan, the eagles, our own songs; and if it hadn't come yet, dawn greene would always ask me for it: can you play landslide?

can i sail through the changing ocean tides? can i handle the seasons of my life?

well maybe.

thank you isaac. the circle comes round and round. i truly am the luckiest woman, the luckiest mother in this whole wide wide world.

i climbed a mountain and i turned around. and i saw my reflection.
